Returns
How returns work
I want you to be glad you bought from me. If a piece doesn't work out, write me at hello@taylorleather.com and we'll figure out the right thing to do. The default policies below cover most cases, but I'd rather have a real conversation than hide behind fine print.
Ready-to-ship items
If you bought something that was already finished and sitting in the shop, you can return it within 14 days of delivery for any reason. The item needs to come back unused and in original condition. Once it arrives back here and I've checked it over, I'll refund the purchase price.
Made-to-order items
Items I built specifically for your order are handled case by case. Tell me what's wrong and we'll work it out.
- If the problem is on my end, wrong material, a defect, a build mistake, I'll refund you in full or remake the piece, whichever you prefer.
- If the piece is exactly what you ordered and you've just changed your mind, I can usually offer a partial refund or store credit. The materials and the hours that went into a one-off piece can't always be recovered, so a full refund isn't always possible. I'll be honest with you about what's fair.
Quote-based custom orders
Custom work that started with a quote follows the terms of the quote agreement you approved. That document is the source of truth for deposits, approval milestones, and cancellation. If you've lost your copy, email me and I'll resend it.
Repair vs. return
Unused ready-to-ship pieces can be returned within 14 days. Personalized or made-to-order work is reviewed for fit, proof, or craftsmanship issues.
In general: I'd rather repair than refund. If something I made fails in normal use, send it back to me. For a lot of pieces I can fix the problem and return the piece to you in better shape than a refund would leave either of us.
Return shipping cost
If the return is because of a shop error (wrong item, defect, damage from my packing), I'll cover return shipping. Email me and I'll send a prepaid label. For other returns, change of mind, sizing, didn't love it in person, return shipping is on the buyer.
Refund timing
Once a return arrives and I've checked the condition, I issue refunds within 3 business days. Your bank or card issuer may take a few more days to post it on their end.
Damaged in transit
If a package arrives damaged, please photograph the outer box, the inner packaging, and the item itself before you do anything else. Email those photos to me within 48 hours of delivery. I'll file the carrier claim and either refund you or send a replacement, whichever you'd rather have.
Final-sale items
A few things can't be returned for practical reasons: pieces with custom engraving or monograms, items made to non-standard measurements specific to one person, and anything cut, sized, or finished for a custom order. These will be flagged as final sale on the product page or in the quote before you commit.
