Shipping
How I ship orders
I pack and ship every order myself from the workshop in Lexington, KY. There's no fulfillment center and no warehouse pick list, when you order, I'm the person who wraps it, labels it, and walks it to the post office.
Domestic shipping (United States)
Most orders go USPS Ground Advantage, which is reliable and reasonably priced for the kind of work I send. For heavier or higher-value pieces, I'll usually upgrade to USPS Priority Mail. If a piece is particularly large or fragile, I may use UPS or FedEx instead. I choose the carrier based on weight, value, and how well a particular package needs to be protected, not on what's cheapest for me.
I charge real shipping cost at checkout. I don't mark shipping up, and I don't bury a margin in there. If the actual label costs less than what you paid, the difference is small enough that it's not worth the bookkeeping to refund, but I'll never deliberately overcharge.
$150, orders over this amount ship free within the contiguous United States. (If this line shows a blank placeholder, free shipping isn't currently offered.)
International shipping
I ship internationally when the destination country allows the kind of work I make. Shipping cost varies a lot by country, and customs paperwork takes a little extra time on my end, so I prefer to quote international shipping before you order. Email me at hello@taylorleather.com with the item you're interested in and your country, and I'll get back to you with a cost and an estimated delivery window.
Buyers outside the US are responsible for any customs duties, import taxes, or VAT charged by the destination country. I have no control over those fees and can't predict them in advance.
Lead times
- Ready-to-ship items leave the shop within 2 business days of your order.
- Made-to-order items have a lead time shown on the product page. That's the time I need to actually build the piece before it ships.
- Quote-based custom orders have a lead time we'll agree on when you approve the quote.
Tracking and insurance
Every order ships with tracking, and the tracking number goes to the email address you used at checkout. Orders over $100 in value are insured automatically through the carrier.
Lost or stolen packages
If a package shows as delivered but you didn't receive it, contact me within 7 days of the delivered scan. I'll file a missing-mail search with the carrier and work the claim with you. After 7 days the carriers usually won't open a claim, which limits what I can do, so write me quickly if something's off.
Address accuracy
Please double-check the shipping address at checkout. I ship to whatever address you provide. If you need to correct an address after the label has been printed, I can usually do it, but the carrier charges an address-change fee that I'll pass through to you.
